10 Things You Should Always Have Packed in Your Bag

Sometimes packing gets stressful and you don’t know where to start. Whether you’re packing for a trip, or just everyday life, there are certain things we all personally can’t “live” without during our day-to-day. From dropping off the kids at school, going to work, getting them where they need to be after school, and everything in between, there are a lot of things you may need to get the job done.

Here is a list of 10 things you should always have packed in your bag, so you can get through the day stress-free.

1. Wallet

We recommend always keeping your wallet with you for safety. Inside of your wallet carries your ID, Credit/Debit card, some emergency cash, business cards, and whatever else you may need for your personal wallet. We love our Starla Wallets that come in a variety of colors and can be a part of your matching set of bags!

2. Sunglasses

This one is our founder’s personal favorites, and definitely, an item to remember to add to your bag each day. Sunglasses protect your eyes, and when you know you’ll be driving long distances during bright days in Texas, these are a necessity. Also, who doesn’t love another way to accessorize?!

3. Water Bottle

Filled of course, because it is very important to stay hydrated! Fun fact about our White Elm bags: Each bag with side pockets can fit pretty large sizes of water bottles and tumblers. The side pockets in the Gemini can hold up to a 64oz water tumbler or 4.75" in diameter. The Aquila will comfortably fit a 40oz water tumbler, and the Gemini Mini can fit a 32oz water tumbler.

4. Daily Medication

It is important to always remember to pack any medication that you take throughout your day. If you forget to take it in the morning, or you don’t eat until you get to work, then it is a good thing to remember to have on you.

5. Emergency Kit

An emergency kit filled with a few essentials like hairbands, tampons, hand sanitizer, and more are super important to remember!

Check out our Emergency Kit Blog to see everything we recommend to be included inside your kit.

6. Snack

A snack to get you through the day is crucial! When you are packing your kid’s snack, go ahead and pack yourself a snack too. You deserve it!

7. Planner

You never know when someone is going to bring up an important date. Whether it’s for a meeting, your child’s teacher reminding you about snack duty next week, or someone mentioning their birthday coming up, keeping your planner handy and filled with your important dates is going to keep your life more organized.

8. Laptop/Tablet/Phone

Whatever device you use, remember to pack it up with you before starting your busy day. But most importantly, remember the charger!

9. Headphones/Earbuds/Airpods

Working remotely from your neighborhood coffee shop, in your living room with roommates, or in a shared space at the office can be such a drag if you forget your headphones. Don’t let working be more of a drag, remember this list, and just remember your headphones.

10. Notebook/Notepad

It is not the end of the world if you do not have this packed, I repeat, it is NOT the end of the world if you do not have this packed … However, you will be so happy you brought it with you when all of the sudden in the middle of your daughter’s dance practice you can recall everything you could possibly need for your next grocery run. Or maybe you come up with a million-dollar business idea and without that notebook, poof.

We would love to hear from you about the items you can’t live without in your day-to-day bag. What else do you pack that’s not included on this list?
